Arenas Beach Hotel

The new chef has really lifted the food, both the flavor and how it's presented. Staff are attentive and efficient, with that lovely Caribbean hospitality. We also took the short boat ride out to the floating bars just offshore, which was fun and gave us a different view of the island. Another relaxing getaway. This hotel stands out among the island's places to stay and keeps making improvements.

We stayed four nights and our room was never cleaned. No one swept the porch or brought fresh towels either. Service was extremely slow, and the staff weren't friendly or helpful. The hotel is across the street from the ocean, despite how it comes across.

The room itself was good and had what I needed, but sound carries everywhere. Music from another room woke me up each morning. The beach and hotel are nice, but the staff and food were a letdown. I felt rushed while reading the menu, with a server standing beside me ready to take the order. One night we were told food would take about an hour. After an hour and a half, we asked about it and barely got a response. When it finally arrived, it was cold and really bad. There are much better places to eat in town.

My husband and I have never stayed at a worse hotel. The price is far too high for what you get. Our room was basically an egg-shaped space made of cheap wood; the bed was hard and noisy, the bathroom smelled awful, and there was no privacy because every sound carried. We even joked you couldn't fart without everyone hearing. The TV had no remote, and the safe didn't work, so it might as well have been decoration. The supervisor handling staff and WhatsApp was a huge disappointment. We had to chase her for information, calls and messages went unanswered, and she always had an excuse. Once might be understandable, but it happened several times.
