Hotel Don Carmelo

The rooms are a bit plain but comfortable, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The neighborhood seemed safe enough, too. Don Carmelo is an excellent place to stay, and the airport shuttle is fantastically convenient in sprawling Managua.

The room my parents and I stayed in was small, with mold and water stains on the wall. The bathroom was so cramped you could brush your teeth while using the toilet. There was a “closet,” but no armoire or rods for hanging or folding clothes. The hotel only served breakfast, so we had to go elsewhere for lunch and dinner. There wasn’t even a table if you wanted to eat breakfast in your room. Wi-Fi was terrible throughout the hotel, cutting in and out, and there was a huge roach in our room. The hotel was okay, but I don’t recommend it.

Our friends had a room there, and we went in while waiting for our flight later that night. It was a small room, nothing special, but clean, with great service. They can arrange an inexpensive shuttle around town to visit places.

The rooms are tiny, and the Wi-Fi was so bad I had to sit at reception to get a signal. The people were really nice and helpful, though. Since there’s no kitchen, they helped me order food.
