We stayed nine nights and would gladly return to Alkmaar. The apartment is quiet, romantic, central, and has everything you need. The landlady is very kind and helpful, and speaks German, English, and Dutch. For a longer stay, though, the storage is a bit awkward. There’s no proper wardrobe, and the chest of drawers is somewhat dated, so living out of a suitcase for that long isn’t convenient. We knew about it and came prepared with our own door hooks, where we hung the provided clothes hangers, so it was manageable. I think the apartment suits a shorter holiday better.
