Hotel 't Fnidsen

We only came for dinner, so I can't comment on the hotel facilities. The setting was pleasant and the food tasted better than I expected, though the portions were small and there weren't many side options. It's in a lovely central area of Alkmaar, close to the Kaasmarkt and good for a walk.

We used our Amex benefits for dinner here. The food and service were good, and the ambiance was lovely at first. Once it filled up it became a little noisy, though still comfortable. It's very near the cheese market.

The restaurant has a nice wine chart, and we found the rooms clean and the service very good. It's a cozy, comfortable place in a really convenient location. You do hear the city bells clearly every time they ring, but I was already used to them by the second day.

We stopped in for drinks, lunch, and snacks after spotting how cozy it looked from outside. The scallops and shrimp croquettes were amazing, and the food quality and service were excellent. Portions are very small, as you'd expect in a fine dining restaurant. The day's dessert was worth trying too: poached peach with fresh homemade creamy lemon yoghurt, ice cream, and lemon cello jello. Our server was so friendly and pleasant. It's a good stop on a day trip to Alkmaar, just a one-minute walk from the kaasmarkt on summer Fridays. 😃
