Jamila Suites

Jamila Suites is beautifully placed at the edge of the center, just a few minutes’ walk away. Our room was spacious, though the lighting was so modest there wasn’t enough to read a magazine. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Our main issue was the lack of hospitality when the heating failed. On the cold, wet weekend before Christmas, we noticed Friday evening that the radiators weren’t warming up. The suite got cold, and we watched TV under the covers. At 8:30 the next morning, we told the manager we’d had a very unpleasant evening because of the cold. She said she’d look into it. When we got back at 2 p.m., the radiators still weren’t warm. We asked whether anything had been done; nothing had, but she came to check right away. On Saturday afternoon, she arrived with a young man and confirmed the radiators were cold. Bleeding the system wasn’t the issue, she said, so she’d call a plumber. We went into town, then returned after eight to find the heating still unfixed. We had another cold evening. At breakfast the next morning, we raised it again, since the manager hadn’t mentioned it. Her explanation was that plumbers don’t come on weekends and she’d call on Monday. That meant she knowingly left us cold for a second evening, even though we’d said how unpleasant Friday had been. Good hospitality would have meant doing her utmost to find a way to keep her suite guests from spending two nights in the cold. We would certainly have tried to find a solution, but that thought never seemed to occur to her. We paid full price, plus 10 euros for parking, for a cold weekend inside and out. Not a fond memory of Jamila Suites.

We certainly enjoyed our stay. Jamila is an excellent hostess and has everything perfectly in order. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the rooms nice and spacious, and the bathroom was fine. The room with the fireplace is fantastic, and the city center, with its lovely terraces and museums, is only a two-minute walk away. It’s a beautiful old building, renovated beautifully and fully equipped, with excellent amenities and personal attention. A wonderful B&B, highly recommended.

We only stayed one night, but the service was impeccable. The owner was sweet and helpful, and made us feel special. Breakfast and the shower were excellent. I prefer a hot tub, but there was a jacuzzi too. Beautiful and welcoming, highly recommended!
