Adagio Amsterdam City South

The location is very nice, and the two-bedroom flat was quite spacious. Still, it wasn't good value for money, and I wouldn't advise staying here unless it's just for a day or two. I stayed almost a week. When I booked, they promised a higher floor, but at check-in the staff weren't courteous or helpful when I asked about it. I was told, “This is what we have.” The bathrooms were really dirty. I raised that with reception, but the woman who seemed senior just ignored me. The pillows looked tiny, and when I asked the same receptionist about them, she responded unprofessionally that “it's like that” and didn't make eye contact. We later realized the pillows had been folded to fit those huge beds. I'm visiting another property in the same area this time and will share a comparison for sure.

My prepaid reservation was for two adults, from 18-22 Feb 2026, with taxes included. It was booked a month in advance through Super.com for Room 4017. At check-in I paid tourist tax and received two key cards. I was never told during booking that visitors weren't allowed after 22:00. That rule only came up after the incident. Even if internal rules exist, they should be clearly explained before the stay, not introduced at check-in or applied retroactively at 3AM. My partner arrived around 03:00 on 19 Feb. Staff knocked repeatedly and demanded he leave, even though the booking was for two guests. They called the police, and I was forced out of the hotel in the middle of the night, left outside in the cold, and my stay was ended. I don't speak Dutch and speak very limited English, which made it extremely distressing. Before the police arrived, an employee accused me of being an escort. I'm a transgender woman, and I experienced that as humiliating and alarming. I had to return home urgently. I strongly do not recommend this property. I maintain that forcing a prepaid guest out at 3AM with police was disproportionate. After the hotel's public reply, I want to clarify that I've formally requested CCTV footage and documentation under GDPR to establish what happened. The matter is now under formal review. I'll update once the official investigation is complete.

The room was spacious and very nice, and I could work from there throughout our 51-day stay at Adagio while our apartment in Amsterdam was being renovated. Front desk staff were always very helpful. We loved the stay otherwise, and everything else was perfect. The paid laundry service wasn't the best, but manageable given how many rooms they have. The problem was the housekeeping. It was horrible. Cleaners came once a week, but hardly cleaned anything, and none of the people who came seemed to care much about the work. There was fungus along the bathroom wall that was never cleaned. I would have given five stars if not for the room cleanliness and terrible housekeeping.

The apartment was spacious and the location worked perfectly for me, with my daughter moving into the student residence across the road. The tram stop and buses are a two-minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful. I really liked the place, but a few things need attention. There was no toaster, which I really needed, and I found the induction stove hard to use; the instructions weren't helpful. The lounge cushions hadn't been vacuumed and had bugs crawling on them. Apartment servicing only happened around 18:00 because there weren't enough cleaners to get through the rooms faster. The internet was very slow throughout the room and kept disconnecting. Please add a small toaster to the kitchen and make the cleaning more thorough.
