Diamond Capsule Hotel Amsterdam South

We arrived late at 00:30 without telling the hotel, and the man working Monday night into Tuesday morning was friendly and helpful. For the price, it was a really good stay. The room was clean and roomier than we expected, and the raised double bed was much bigger than a standard one. The only downside was the shower. It was blocked, so I cleared the rubber outlets myself and quite a bit of dirt came out. It’s a waterfall-style shower, but before I fixed it the water was just sprinkling. Afterward it was okay.

For a budget-conscious traveller, the transport connections are a real plus. The tram to Central Station and Zuidas is easy, and Kronenburg Metro is walkable, though the trip feels a bit long with luggage. As a 70-year-old woman, I found that especially relevant. The capsule is exactly as described, a very small pod with no window. The price for Amsterdam is good, but after one night I found the lack of daylight stifling, and it’s noisy enough that you hear your neighbours. It works for a short stay if you’ll be out all day and only need somewhere clean and affordable to sleep. For an older traveller, I’d bring an eye mask and good earplugs, and keep the stay to no more than two nights. You get what you pay for: a well-connected bed.

For the price, the standard is good, especially in Amsterdam, and I liked nearly everything about Diamond capsule hotel. Unlike many capsules, mine had a toilet and shower, plus a fairly normal room with a table and hanger. I didn’t hear outside noise, though earplugs might be useful just in case. Breakfast is optional. Getting to the centre is the hard part. The hotel is on the outskirts, and there’s no direct bus or tram, so you have to make several transfers. Check-in also meant filling in all my passport details at reception. Doing that at 4am when my brain wasn’t working was really hard. Still, I’d give it a solid 4 for value.

The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean with everything in place, including the bathroom. The staff were polite, friendly, and always ready to help. I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend the place. Thanks to all the staff for a nice stay.
