The reception and cleaning staff are friendly, but the bar waiters weren't, and one man there didn't know how to communicate with guests. The old lineup was much nicer. I've stayed at Hotel Rooland regularly for years, and the quality has dropped a lot. The rooms are old and dusty, with no AC, refrigerator, or even a hot water kettle for tea or coffee. It needs renovation to justify calling itself a 4 star hotel. As it is, I'd give it 2-3 stars at most. At that price, I might not return.

At 4.30am, two cats fighting on the roof woke me up. I then noticed a strong cat piss smell in the room, which was probably there before but hidden by the air freshener. The room had already smelled strongly of air freshener, and the bathroom later reeked of cigarettes. I got a room overlooking a roof, and everything felt dated. No mini bar or hot water kettle, and the cold tap water was warm. This isn't a four star hotel. I booked at the last minute to avoid the covid curfew and arrived at 8pm. The receptionist said the kitchen was closed, although three people were still working in it, and it was too late to order out because of curfew. I was shocked they couldn't arrange even a small thing to eat or drink. Like others have said, the place has seen better days. It should be 2 stars, with a maximum price of €35 per night.
