Guesthouse Fleur de Lis

The staff were friendly and eager to help make things pleasant, and the rooms were very clean with lots of towels. But they're small, and with two people and a dog it got cramped. There was no wardrobe, so our suitcases had to go under the table. I booked with B&B guesthouse Fleur de Lis and only learned on arrival that breakfast had to be booked and paid for separately, so keep that in mind. There were also signs of deferred maintenance here and there.

We had another lovely visit to charming Bergen, and Fleur de Lis is now a favorite spot for us. Fleur gave us such a warm welcome. The guesthouse is cozy and warmly decorated, and we felt at home right away. Our room was cozy too. Breakfast was excellent, with treats like fresh fruit and yogurt, plus a delicious latte macchiato from Fleur's very friendly colleague, whose name I unfortunately didn't catch 😱. We felt right at home in this charming, cottage-like guesthouse, which is decorated throughout with a lot of character. We found a lovely room at short notice for two of us and our dog. The owner and staff are very friendly and speak excellent German. Dogs are welcome, and the hostess has one herself, though dogs can't go into the breakfast room while people are eating. We could bring our food back to the room, so it was fine. A small table there would've helped, but we understand that the dog couldn't be left alone, and that's not the guesthouse's fault 😉. When anything comes up, they deal with it right away. The welcome was warm and the booking was pleasant. We'd gladly return.

It worked fine for one night, though we thought it was a bit expensive. A small fridge would have made the stay nicer in the hot weather. The house has as many rooms fitted into and around it as possible. Our room was nicely decorated, but we aren't fans of lots of pillows and frills in a place to sleep. We spotted a few cobwebs, and the shower didn't feel hygienic: it was fully tiled, with an untreated wooden shower wall that didn't seem fresh. We decided not to shower.
