Het Weeshuis

I've stayed in hotels more than 50 nights a year for work around the world, and I've never had client service as poor as at ‘Het Weeshuis’. Absolutely shambolic. The simple breakfast was decent, but the rooms were mediocre, with small double beds. Other guests were very noisy in the hallway late at night, and the staff came across as unfriendly and arrogant.

The manager was very accommodating when we asked for extra pillows and towels, and even brought us a mini fridge. Those things should have already been in the room, though. Our suite was spacious and the bed comfortable, but basic comforts were overlooked: there were no towel bars or hooks by the sink in the main room, and the shower had no shelves or soap dish, so toiletries had to sit on the floor. Breakfast cost as much as the full buffet and hot options elsewhere, yet was served in small portions. Everyone was nice, and the hotel is charming and recently renovated to a high standard. It may be the best accommodation in charming Bolsward, but the owners seemed to choose style over substance, and after three nights we didn't feel very comfortable.

Everyone at Het Weeshuis was so friendly and helpful, and our room was beautiful and clean. The surroundings are lovely, and Bolsward is a beautiful city. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely come back next spring or summer ❤️

Donkeys under the walnut tree and a charming, friendly owner. The little hotel was peaceful, quiet and clean. I'll definitely stay here again.
