Breakfast was varied and delicious, with plenty of options even for my gluten-free diet. The hostess has celiac disease herself, so she really understands it and is a great choice for anyone who needs to eat gluten-free. There's a separate kitchen and dining area, shared with another guest, where you can make coffee or tea. The room was complete, and the bathroom was lovely, though I missed having hooks or somewhere to hang towels and clothes. It's an affordable B&B in a very quiet spot. In the early morning, you can barely hear any cars.

The owner is great at finding solutions, and this is a fantastic place for people with special needs. The family works hard to make everyone happy. They even put together an extensive gluten-free breakfast, and seeing my daughter beam over it was wonderful. We slept so well, too. Our daughter already loves the cats, and I'd love to come back and enjoy the peace and quiet again.

I could choose where to end my Pieterpad stage from Rolde to Schoonloo, since De Mussenhof offers pickup and drop-off even though it's a few kilometers from the route. It's a lovely spot in picturesque Westdorp, with a room in the farm's old stable, a private shower and toilet, and a really comfortable bed. The shared living and dining room was handy too. For a small extra charge I had a delicious Indonesian dinner. The room price included a generous breakfast and packed lunch. Great value, and highly recommended.

The owners were so kind, and the children loved the animals around the place, especially their friendly dog Pablo. We were two adults with little ones aged 1 and 2, and a cot was already set up for the youngest. The room was spotless and beautiful, with a comfy bed and a really convenient shower. Definitely recommend for an overnight stay.

The food was a real highlight. Dinner was fresh and lovingly made, and breakfast was prepared to order, with yogurt, rolls, fresh fruit, a warm surprise, and a perfect egg. You could also make packed lunches. The hosts were lovely, and the price was excellent for what you get. We stayed Saturday night before walking a 23 km stretch of the Pieterpad to Sleen the next day. I booked a Q-buzz taxi from Sleen in advance, which worked really well, and there's also free on-site parking if you drive. The welcome with tea or coffee was warm. The place is cozy, tastefully decorated, and wonderfully quiet. Beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the shower was great, though bring your own soap and shampoo. A few small things were missing or inconvenient, like somewhere to put towels or clothes in the bathroom, so I'm giving four stars instead of five. Only a nitpicker would mind, though. We'd love to come back.
