Breakfast was a simple continental spread, but it was fine. The rooms are dated and basic, with hard beds, a CRT TV, an old closet, and a plain bathroom. Sound carries too. Nights happened to be quiet while we were there, but in the morning we could hear the neighbors getting up. I even heard someone plug something into the socket in the adjoining wall.

There’s parking nearby in town, plus a very small train station, and they have somewhere to leave bikes. The staff were welcoming and friendly. It’s a quiet family hotel with a restaurant and bar downstairs. The rooms are a little aged, though they’re good value.

We stopped for one night during a road trip and had a wonderful stay. The manager was lovely, and the hotel felt clean and cozy. It’s near the sea and a pretty little fishing harbor, in a beautiful neighborhood. There isn’t much to do in the region, though.

The food was good, and the place felt clean and wholesome. Staff were nice. I did miss having tea and coffee in the room, and the wine pours varied in size despite costing the same. The especially small measure was disappointing.

We found De Halv Maan clean, orderly, and really friendly, and the beds were comfortable. It’s not a fancy place, but we felt fine there. Also, the name is Half Moon, not Half Man! We managed to book two rooms at short notice on a busy weekend, then caught the ferry to Texel the next morning. There’s a rail station close by and plenty to see around the area. Recommended.
