They call it a holiday park, but the whole swimming pool situation is awkward. It was full inside at 16.50, then they came and kicked you out. Closing time is 17.00, and they argue it could be worse because on weekends they close at 16.00. Spartan!
Really good overall. A few parts are a bit old, including the swimming pool, but it was still great.
This was our second stay, but our first in the main part of the park. We had a brilliant time in a very new “Zeemelde 6” house (714), about a month old and immaculate. The location was excellent, with afternoon and evening sun, and close to the playgrounds, pool and beach. We had great weather and the park wasn’t too busy. It was the last week of the UK Summer Holiday, and many mainland Europeans had already gone back to work or school. The kids loved the swimming pool. The house was well equipped in the kitchen, though there wasn’t much food storage or prep space. I also liked that all the houses have solar panels, heat pumps and underfloor heating, so they’re very eco-friendly. Really good! :)
The tiny house was in a good spot for bike tours, and the cutlery and pans were good quality. But the hoover hadn’t been emptied and was full of dog hair. Both the indoor and outdoor brushes were covered in dog hair too, and the door glass and windows hadn’t been cleaned.
The bungalows are packed close together, and the parking spots felt narrow. There isn’t much greenery yet, though that may improve and make the area more appealing in 5-10 years. We stayed in the park’s newer section, so the interior was clean and modern, and the room was a reasonable size for a long weekend with a small family. It’s also well placed for day trips to Belgium, including Knokke and Gent, and the nearby beach is fine for a walk by the sea.
