Hotel Restaurant Cafe Borst

The restaurant is stylish and really cozy, with the feel of a sweet holiday spot. Castricum Beach is beautiful and peaceful, and only a 10-minute bike ride away. Perfect! The rooms are simple and cozy, even if they aren’t fully modern. They have washing and tea-making facilities, and the shared toilets and showers are clean and nice.

The staff were chatting at the bar while we waited with empty glasses for over 10 minutes. It took a really long time before anyone came to help us.

For this price, I could get a flat on the German North Sea with a balcony and sea view. Here, the room gets really hot in summer and there's no cupboard or other place to put clothes. The shower on the floor is fine, but it was dirty and the ventilation wasn't working very well.

As a former employee, I saw how bad things got when the restaurant was busy. The kitchen couldn't handle more than four orders at once, so staff with menus would be ignored, and the kitchen would yell at the wait staff if they sent through more orders. On a busy night, a table of four could wait 50 minutes for food. The back area was disgusting too. The mop used for cleaning was stained and washed together with the hotel room bedding.
