Hof van Dalfsen

The food was fine, though the barbecue sat right by the door and smoke drifted inside. Some of the meat had been left on too long and was partly burnt black. Out back there's room for kids to play, and the hotel sits just outside Dalfsen in a decent spot. Inside, the decor felt plain apart from the chandeliers, which looked as costly as the rest of the room put together. The toilets were awkwardly tucked behind the wardrobe and more decorated than the main room. Staff weren't very friendly and often seemed out of their depth. One waiter dropped cups on people at least four times. The atmosphere was mediocre, and the employees seemed moody.

Our room was small, but it was clean, and we could leave our luggage there. The staff were friendly and lent us bikes, along with cycling guides for the area. Breakfast had a wide range of choices. We also ate at the restaurant, where the food was good, if a little expensive.

After several lovely stays with wonderful people at this family-run Hotel, I hear it is closing as a hotel and has been sold for a new venture. Best wishes to all the staff and to the Ropel's as they retire.

The staff at Hof van Dalfsen were so polite and professional. It's a great restaurant, and I'd recommend it for a romantic break or a party with a group.
