Nice rooms and a lovely couple running the place. Breakfast was alright, though a little expensive for what it was.

The seaside setting is the big draw at "At home with Frans and Els". You're only a stone's throw from the lighthouse, with wonderful views across the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. It's a lovely spot to watch the sunrise and seabirds or just sit with the calming sound of the water. Having the lighthouse so close makes coastal walks especially nice. Inside, it feels intimate and homely rather than luxurious. Some furnishings and details are dated, but everything seems cared for and comfortable. That old-fashioned character is part of the charm, giving it a familiar, welcoming feel straight away. Anyone wanting sleek, modern design might prefer somewhere else. But for peace, nature and a warm atmosphere, the location and the views more than make up for the older decor. The coastal setting, lighthouse and panoramic sea views made it a memorable place to stay.

We liked having a terrace and sea view with our room, and Els and Frans are very kind hosts. Breakfast was the one thing that didn't suit us: eating downstairs with the hosts felt a little too close. We'd have preferred more privacy.

We left early. For what this cost, I expected a lot more, and the view is the only thing earning a point. The room smelled musty and the bed linen was dirty. Breakfast was in the hostess's own kitchen with her watching over us, so there was no privacy. The bicycles mentioned in the advert weren't available either.

Seeing the lighthouse from your pillow is pretty special. The location really is spectacular, very close to the beach and two restaurants, and the room is comfortable. The arrangement takes a little getting used to, though. The room is upstairs on the first floor, while the bathroom, with separate shower and toilet, is downstairs. The owners use that area too, with a dishwasher and drying rack there. Oh well! They rent out bikes, and there's motorcycle parking right by the entrance. Remember to lift the barrier to get through into the private living area. An enchanting place despite those quirks.
