Het Uilenbos

The staff arranged for the tour we were taking through the dunes to pick us up at the hotel. They also collected us from the ferry dock and drove us there, pointing out a couple of places of interest along the way. It made for a very enjoyable stay, and I'll definitely stay there if I visit Texel again.

I'm glad this turned out to be the wrong hotel, because the owner's welcome was extremely unpleasant. I had gone to the wrong door number and arrived around 10pm. The old man started by telling me I was late. I realized my mistake, said goodbye and left. My wife, young son and I had parked in the car park, so we went back to our car. The owner chased after us, shouting, apparently thinking we might steal a car or something. I explained we were just returning to our vehicle. He then became extremely abusive, accused us of trespassing and threatened to call the police. His own wife came out and told him he was wrong, but he kept hurling abuse at my family and me. I was wearing a basketball jacket and running trainers, so I don't know if he thought I was some dodgy criminal. The whole thing left us very distressed. He was offensive and unpleasant, and I wouldn't recommend anyone stay there if they want a warm welcome or a pleasant place to stay. A very disgusting man indeed.

The location was very good, but the price felt high: almost €200 for one night for a family of four. Breakfast was very basic and had no fresh fruit.

We loved our stay. It's cozy and friendly, with a nice breakfast and a perfect location ❤️
