Zeerust

The beds were the one small annoyance: they're two singles pushed together, and they can slide apart if you move around. It didn't take much away from an otherwise very comfortable stay. I found Hotel Zeerust in De Koog, Texel a lovely place, with a peaceful lounge and a cozy bar where you can get a warm drink free all day. The location is hard to beat, close to the village center and beachfront, and the staff were welcoming and gave great service from the moment I arrived. My room had modern decor and the amenities I needed. Each morning there was a hearty breakfast with a good selection of fresh, quality food. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it's a convenient, comfortable place to explore the island. I'd happily recommend it and hope to return.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. We found the room cozy, spacious, and very clean during our one-night stay. It's near the beach, and electric bike rental is available.

The only real downside was a bad smell from the drains. It seems to be a common island problem, but perhaps scented sticks or closing the drains would help. I'd still return, hopefully to a room that smells better. The stay itself was wonderful, with an ideal location and easy access to the beach and cycling paths. E-bike rental was great, and breakfast was generous. The beautiful sierra and good service added to the experience. Our room was fine, with a nice jet bathtub, Rituals toiletries, good heating when needed, and it was clean.

Breakfast was great, with plenty to choose from, including bread, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Hotel Zeerust is well placed in De Koog, just beyond the main street, and has car parking and covered bike parking. Early check-in doesn't seem to be offered, so it's probably best to arrive around 1pm or later. The room was comfortable enough, though it felt a little dated. It also wasn't spotless: there was dust around the edges and windows, and odd purple stains on the bathroom walls.
