I stayed here three times for one night each while attending a leadership seminar. The location is nice, with walking paths and a nature reserve nearby. The rooms have a vintage look and were okay, though some beds were too soft. Meeting spaces are outdoor cabins or yurts heated by wood stoves, which is a very original setup. Food was hard as a vegan. For breakfast, hummus or peanut butter were the only savory vegan choices, while everyone else had eggs, cheese, cold cuts, and so on. There wasn’t even vegan butter. Lunch was difficult too, since most dishes contained dairy, eggs, or meat, and the café on the grounds had barely any vegan options for dinner. After my second disappointing stay, an employee advised me to call ahead and say I was vegan. I did, and they confirmed they would provide vegan options. But when we got to lunch, the people there said they hadn’t been told and scrambled to find me something. There were no vegan dinner options either. They suggested removing the meat from one dish, which was really poor. Then the employee said, “we’re not a vegan restaurant”. I think that was really bad service. When you’re a vegan attending a seminar out in the sticks, with no other places to eat, your company is paying for your stay, and you’ve registered your dietary needs in advance, they should be able to accommodate you without you having to fight for it.
