Casa Julia

The room was large, and the shared spaces were nicely decorated, but I wouldn't recommend Casa Julia if noise keeps you awake. Most rooms look onto a courtyard where people sometimes talk and party loudly at night. There are no staff from 8pm until morning, so nobody is there to stop it. I understand staffing overnight costs money, but the hotel could close the courtyard after dark and leave people to smoke at the front street area. There's no need to make it easy to yell, drink, and smoke there around midnight. I told the staff the next morning, but they offered no fix or even a small gesture for the lost sleep. The party itself wasn't the hotel's fault, though its policies make it possible. If the courtyard stays open after 8pm, the hotel could keep the front desk staffed later to close it or speak to guests who are too loud. On top of that, they asked me to pay the city tax again even though I'd already paid and had a receipt. The hotel has potential, and a few changes in how staff handle these situations would have helped.
