Stayokay Texel- Hostel

The breakfast was good, though the tablets gave it a bit of a hospital feel. It’s child friendly, but my bed shook and creaked. You get what you pay for, maybe a little less.

A great base for exploring Texel, and you can rent bikes right at reception. The staff were lovely, breakfast was excellent, and there are indoor games and outdoor playgrounds for families.

Dinner was especially good, and the food in general was excellent. Since it’s buffet style, portions aren’t controlled, so food can run out. Our group might have to share desserts or miss out. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly during our annual school trip in June. There’s loads of room for outdoor games, making it a superb spot for young people. As adults, we could open our room’s French window, but students weren’t allowed to for safety reasons, so they had to put up with an uncomfortably warm room. A wonderful place.

The main thing I missed in the 4-bed mixed room was privacy. There weren’t curtains for each bed, which matters if you need to change, use a light while someone’s sleeping, or just want privacy. There were no lockers either, so belongings had to go on or under the beds or on shelves without protection. Still, this is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, and I’ve worked in two myself. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the sheets were perfect, and the view was nice. Breakfast had a good range of dishes, drinks, and fruit. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The location was great, with a bus stop nearby and the centre of Den Burg close by. Thanks for making my trip to Texel unforgettable.
