Hotel Bij Jef

We had a wonderful weekend here in August. Jef’s food was amazing, and Nadine guided us through every course with such thoughtful wine pairings. The room and service were great too. We’ll definitely be back.

We came expecting more than a meal, and Bij Jef gave us a full sensory experience that surpassed what we had in mind. From the appetizers through dessert, the creative presentation and flavor combinations were fabulous. The wine pairing is worth choosing too. The food itself was great, as you'd expect. The chef and crew made us feel comfortable throughout. It is expensive, but I thought it was worth it.

The wine recommendations were unlike what I’d usually pick, but they paired wonderfully with the dishes. I trusted them without studying the large wine list, just as I trusted the menu even though I normally like to know what I’m ordering. Everything was delicious. After dinner, I saw Jef for the first time in decades. He’s still a lovely, smiling man, and his passion for his work is clear. A well-earned Michelin star. I should book again. Best meal on the island.

After dinner, it was just one flight of stairs to a lovely, neat and super comfortable room. We’d booked the stay with breakfast, and the next morning brought tasty dishes, good juices and a glass of something sparkling for the road. Sweet and savory, all flawless. The Local Meets Cosmopolitan menu was a real treat. Every dish was delicious, perfectly seasoned and prepared. Jef and his kitchen team clearly care about food. The hostess and staff were friendly and attentive, and the sommelier really knew their stuff. One of the best wine pairings we’ve had. We paid for the wine upgrade with the lamb too, and that stunning red was worth it. Everything else was just as good, from the atmosphere and service to the amuse-bouches, homemade bread and friandises. A Michelin star worthy experience, without a doubt. Totally worth repeating. We’ll be back!
