Vakantiepark Giethoorn

If you stay here, you may as well forget your 100€ and take a looooong breath before dealing with the staff. The place is good, and having a boat right in front of your caravan room made for a nice experience. They ask for a 100€ deposit to keep the room clean and tidy, but they never gave it back, even though we left the room and all the kitchen items as clean as before. That was their excuse with me 🤣. Communication was hard, and the staff weren’t friendly.

We loved the area, the boats, and the fishing. The accommodation was clean, modern, and air conditioned, which was much appreciated in record-breaking temperatures. It was my first time here, and it’s a first-class vacation place. Prices are extremely good compared with high summer prices in the UK.

The views over the lake are amazing, and there’s a play area for kids. Every cottage comes with an electric boat, and the cottages themselves are awesome. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s one of the best, very well-managed vacation parks in the Netherlands. If you’re in Giethoorn, this is the place to stay!

A few good things: the internet worked well, some of the children's play areas were good, and we got coffee even though we couldn’t drink it without cups. We chose the cheapest chalet, but it hadn’t been communicated properly that there were no cups or cutlery in the unit. Things we ordered were always late. A takeaway that was supposed to take 20 minutes arrived after 40, and the bread breakfast was 30 minutes overdue, with eight buns and two slices of ham. Reception opening and closing times weren’t displayed, and the staff weren’t very friendly.
