Het Boerenhuisje has become a regular part of our summers. We've come for years, first with our two children as toddlers and preschoolers, and now as teenagers, and we enjoy it every time. The cottage is old and shows its age, but that gives it a cozy, almost time-travel feeling, especially on the few rainy days we've had. The sun seems to shine most of the time. There's a wood stove too, though we've never used it. We find the place luxurious, but beyond the appliances, don't expect sleek modern styling. The view over the fields is breathtaking. For now, they grow low crops there, and it's special to watch corn, onions, and carrots being harvested right in front of you. The cottage is close to Perkpolder beach and its beach bar, the fortified town of Hulst, and Kloosterzande, where there's a lovely outdoor pool. It has what we need: comfortable beds with fresh linens, tables inside and out, a concrete barbecue, dishwasher, washer and dryer, towels and tea towels, lots of dishes, fast Wi-Fi, and toys, including outdoor ones like a pedal tractor. There's a sandbox for little kids as well. Paul is a fantastic host. We've had pleasant contact from the start, he replies quickly, stays relaxed, and welcomes feedback. This gem has become essential to our summers.
