We had a really relaxing stay, and the lodge was much better quality than we'd expected. There was a great selection of glasses and plates, and the beds were comfortable. We were lucky to get a lodge close to the beach exit, with a terrace that stayed sunny until late. The pool only opens when it's above 20 degrees, so we couldn't swim even though it was warm. We went to Yerseke for an oyster lunch and had a look around Goes. On the way home to Amsterdam, we stopped at Kinderdijk.
We really enjoyed our stay and will probably come back. Camping can be stressful, but this site was phenomenal. We accidentally booked the wrong night and ended up in a grand campsite with power. The staff were lovely. Bring your bikes if you can. It's very dog-friendly, close to the beach, has an amazing pool, and there's a lovely restaurant right next door. A couple of things mentioned in negative reviews didn't bother us. You ideally need a key card to get in and out, but my partner and I liked feeling so safe. There was one construction area, but it was gated off so little kids couldn't get hurt. Some of the reviews seem unfair to us.
I hoped the earlier bad reviews weren't true, but after arriving we felt the same way. This was the worst camping experience. The service was very poor. They don't have a clear charging policy, and seemed to be looking for reasons not to return our deposit. Construction sites all around spoiled our weekend. The shower was cold and small, and only one restaurant was open, starting at 12:00. You need a card everywhere, including the parking area and WC, but there's only one card for each place. That was very inconvenient for our family of more than three. I understand a business needs to make money, but please show customers some respect. Regards!
We won't be coming back. The place was awful, and the staff were unfriendly, even rude. They initially refused to give us an invoice, and only provided one after we threatened to report it to the tax office and police. A permanent camper also accused us of driving too fast, which wasn't true. The speed bumps make it impossible to go faster than 10 km/h. Facilities felt a hundred years old, and hot water was limited and barely warm. You have to swipe your card everywhere, even after you've already entered the campsite. We arrived around 19:00 to check in, and staff had confirmed by phone that they'd help us. They then held our deposit for this so-called extra service, without showing any evidence or policy, or telling us about the charge in advance. A completely terrible place.
The campsite seems to have potential, but it shouldn't be open while so many changes are underway. We were woken early most mornings because the road is so close to the pitches. The pool was closed, and after the first day we couldn't find anyone to help. The staff were friendly when we did see them. Our pitch was bare, dusty soil, the toilet roll wasn't replaced after the first roll, and the nearest shower was locked. Card access to the other shower didn't work, so we had to leave the site to shower. Maybe it was because we came in early season, in June.
