Water Resort Oosterschelde 10112

We came away well rested, with great weather and absolute peace. Being woken by pheasants and coots was lovely. The resort is beautifully laid out and easy to reach, and it seems well suited to people who really want quiet. We’d booked house 12 for the summer, but decided at short notice to try the place over Easter too, so we booked house 51. It’s a beautiful house at the end of the resort. Unfortunately, it needed a proper basic clean: cobwebs in every corner of the windows and under the furniture would have been easy to remove. It felt like only the obvious spots had been cleaned. I don’t understand paying for final cleaning if the place only gets a rough sweep. We wanted to relax, but had to clean first. That didn’t spoil our stay, though. We still recommend the resort.

The lakefront cottage was quite nice, and it’s a peaceful place if that’s what you’re after. Children may find it very boring, though. The rooms are small, and the woman at reception wasn’t particularly friendly. We didn’t see anyone else, so there isn’t much more to say about the service.

The patio door stopped closing just after we arrived, so I adjusted it myself. Maybe it’s time for some building maintenance. The house feels neglected and wasn’t very clean: the cutlery and pots were dirty, as were the drawers, and we had to do some cleaning ourselves. It doesn’t seem to get a proper clean every three months. We were also hoping for peace and quiet, but that was about 50/50. From Wednesday evening, loud motorcycles were racing up and down the dike from 6 p.m., and it was just as bad on Thursday. There were plenty of noisy neighbors too. One mowed the grass by the lake at 8 a.m., another was renovating his cabin, with tools going for two days, and a pressure washer ran for about four hours today. Sheet piles being driven into the dike at exactly 7:30 this morning, well, that can happen. Still, the state of the house and all the noise were pretty irritating.

A lovely holiday village with modern comforts and plenty of shade. It’s completely peaceful, making it ideal for seniors looking for quiet.
