Van der Valk Hotel Gorinchem - A15

We stayed in the Wellness Suites, which were incredibly relaxing, and the facilities were excellent. The staff were so friendly, and the food was delicious. Breakfast had lots of options and was top-notch. It was our first stay here, everything felt perfect, and we’ll definitely return.

The kitchen is excellent, and the professional, friendly staff make each stay enjoyable. I travel often and have stayed at plenty of hotels, but vdV Gorinchem stands out in a very positive way. I’m always happy to come back. A couple of things could be better. Dinner is well prepared and tastes very good, though the choices are often heavy on carbohydrates. When I ask for extra vegetables, it seems to be the same selection each day. More variety and some lighter dishes would be welcome. The gym only opens to guests at 06:00. Since there are no guest rooms below it and it doesn’t need supervision, I don’t really understand the restriction. Starting access at 05:00 would help early risers. The elevator is fast, which is nice, but also quite loud, especially in nearby rooms. These are small points and don’t take away from an otherwise pleasant, high quality stay.

Parking was easy, and the staff were friendly. The hotel’s modern design and striking tower stand out, while the room was quiet, spacious, and comfortable, with lovely views and high quality finishes. Breakfast was generous and well organized, and the restaurant had a relaxed, upscale feel. I’d definitely return.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this hotel chain, but this stay changed how I feel about it. I paid a deposit at check-in and signed all the required documents. After checkout, they kept the deposit, saying I had smoked in the room. That isn’t true. One manager mentioned a smell, while another said they had seen cigarette butts, but nobody showed any evidence. I didn’t get my deposit back. It feels like a scam, and I’m very disappointed with how guests are treated. I don’t recommend this hotel.
