La Casa aan Zee

We'd booked ten days at La Casa aan Zee, specifically because it had a fenced garden for our dogs. But chickens were roaming around, so the dogs couldn't go outside. On the second night, the owners had a terrible argument that kept us awake for hours. We went home because we didn't feel safe. It's very unfortunate that nobody apologized and that we've been blocked on WhatsApp.

The accommodation was very basic, like a converted garage, and poor value for the money. We left after an hour because of an unpleasant smell. When we asked to cancel, the landlady initially agreed to refund us, but now she's asking for a refund because she hadn't agreed with Agoda. Her husband was very unfriendly too, and should really watch how much he drinks. 🙏 The Google reviews are simply wrong. We'll see how long my review stays online.

The hosts looked after us and the apartment very well, and it had everything we needed. Brouwersdam is within walking distance, and this part of Zeeland is great for exploring by bike. Highly recommended if you don't need to stay at a campsite.

Renesse is about 15 minutes away by bike, and the location is beautiful. We were warmly welcomed, and our upstairs room was cozy and clean. Everything was perfect, and dogs are very welcome. We'd gladly return. Highly recommended.
