Reddingsboot Harlingen Boat

Harlingen was one of the loveliest stops on our cycling trip around the Netherlands. The Reddingsboot is a charming boat with an interesting history, in a perfect spot, and offers something different without giving up luxury. We'd recommend it. We'd ridden from Amsterdam via Texel, and our evening check-in ran late, partly because you shouldn't count on the Vlieland ferry from the North tip. Our hosts were very accommodating and asked us to keep them updated as we tried to reach the boat before midnight. When we finally arrived, they welcomed us promptly and handed over the keys to our houseboat for the night. Then we could relax with the well-stocked mini bar.

The tower is lovingly furnished, and the welcome was very friendly, with a thorough introduction. Spending the night in the Harlingen lighthouse was unique and unforgettable. Breakfast the next morning, 22 meters up with a wonderful view, made it hard to leave.

The bed sits at window height, so you can take in the view without getting up, and there are binoculars for watching the ships. We stayed overnight in the Harlingen lighthouse, not the lifeboat. They really have thought of everything. Absolutely fantastic, better than I could imagine, and worth six stars!

Staying in your own private lighthouse was wonderful, and I'd highly recommend it to adventurous people. We visited over New Year's and got a very warm welcome. The sleeping and living space has a lovely atmosphere and everything you need, with a unique view. Guests can freely access the magnificent panorama from the top of the tower, even from outside. I also loved hauling up the generous breakfast myself, ready and waiting on a hook at the bottom of the tower.
