Hotel Marquette Heemskerk

The breakfast was great, with a good Covid-19 hygiene setup, and there’s free parking. We booked on the spur of the moment and ended up liking the hotel more than expected. The staff were attentive, the bathroom had a bathtub 🤩, and bikes can be rented there. It’s in a nice area with a park and castle, not far from the beach or town. We’ll definitely come back.

The castle is absolutely fantastic, and the hotel is quiet and peaceful, with a very nice drive in. It took less than 30 minutes by car to get to Amsterdam. The place itself was decent and the staff friendly, though the online photos made it look better than it was. The hotel could use a refurbishment.

The estate forest is lovely to walk around, and the hotel sits in a beautiful setting with friendly, helpful staff. We stayed one night and rented bikes for the roughly three-minute ride to Heemskerk. The staff suggested a good place to eat in town. Breakfast was nice, though the juice selection was disappointing: it was labelled fresh, but didn’t taste fresh at all. I’d rather they offered fresh orange juice alone. Our room was okay, but could be improved. The location helps make up for that. One practical note: Google Maps had the hotel pinned at the castle restaurant. It’s actually about 300 metres back along the same road, down the small side road.

The breakfast had loads of choice and the service was great. We rented bikes and rode through the dunes to the sea, though the directions from Clerk to the dunes weren’t very clear and it took us a while to find our way. The hotel is quaint and nicely located. The room wasn’t as clean as it should have been, especially the unvacuumed carpets. At night there was also a strange high-pitched whine. We think it might have come from the hot-water pipes.
