Hotel Kapellerput Heeze-Eindhoven

The nature view is nice, since the hotel is outside town, but the stay was poor value for the price. My room was cold, the heater didn't work, and the tiled floor was freezing, with no slippers provided. The bathroom was average, and breakfast at 21 euros felt like a rip-off. Checkout was by 9:30 AM. I won't stay here again.

The rooms are very small but comfortable and bright, and the location is nice. The meeting rooms are basic, though the coffee is good. Food choices at breakfast, lunch and dinner are limited, but the quality is quite decent. The architecture and styling could be better.

The quiet location was the one real plus. For this price, the room and breakfast were very disappointing, and after 30 years working in the hotel field, mostly in Germany, I'd say this is well below average. We booked three nights in August through the website. The room had no air conditioning, and the window only tilted open, supposedly for guest safety, even though we were on the first floor. The days happened to be cool and the nights cold, but I can't imagine managing in 30°C. The cooked breakfast egg was brown inside and smelled awful. When we arrived, an event had closed the whole city, and we spent 45 minutes trying to reach the hotel while police officers gave us conflicting, wrong directions. I finally called and learned that only the road through Sterksel was open. The hotel could have emailed that to the few guests arriving that day. Mosquitoes made the first night miserable. On the second day we found the electric switch for the mosquito net in front of the window. Why wasn't that explained at reception or in the room?

The setting is beautiful, parking is free, and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Most of the restaurant staff were friendly too. The rooms are okay, but noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms carries through far too loudly. The restaurant let us down both times we ate there. On each day, the starter was bland or nearly gross, and about half the people stopped after a few bites. The mains looked like starters too, just a small piece of meat and a few little bits of vegetables. That sort of plate might make sense as one course in a meal of five or more, but it was all we got. We had to fill up on fries, and the shrinkflation was so bad we felt like going to McDonalds in Geldrop afterward. It seemed like making the food look fancy mattered more than serving a satisfying meal. And who thought two tiny shot glasses of mayonnaise were enough for a table of ten? We stayed here a few years ago, and the restaurant was a big disappointment then too. Poor value, and an unpleasant, frustrating experience.
