Hotel St. Lambert

The hotel gets two stars from me, though the restaurant was great and the servers were super friendly and helpful. The hotel needs basic work. Some rooms are missing basic fixtures and fittings, even if they're described as temporary. Even a basic hotel shouldn't have an extension cable balanced on a chair to power the TV.

The restaurant food was really tasty, and we were quite satisfied with our stay. The room was okay and the price reasonable compared with Eindhoven. We chose this hotel because it's close to Helmond station, which suited us for our very early flight from Eindhoven. Helmond castle is nearby too, so we got to see it at night.

The fries were excellent too, but the burger was the best I've had in The Netherlands. It isn't exactly listed on the menu, so ask for the Truffle burger with bacon. Fantastic. I thought Fiddler's in The Hague couldn't be beaten, but St. Lambert's proved me wrong.

We were only there for one night, thank goodness. The two little rooms were old, extremely small and dirty, and it was a big surprise to find that in Holland. We were traveling with two children, and in both rooms the sheets were dirty and hadn't been changed. I had to ask reception for clean ones and change them myself. A really unpleasant experience. There was just one small parking spot between the church and the hotel.
