Fletcher Nautisch Kwartier

The peaceful harbor setting is lovely, and check-in went smoothly. Parking was roomy and convenient. My room looked out onto the parking lot rather than the harbor, though, which was a letdown. The room itself was a decent size with nice windows, but the Dutch-only information sheet wasn't useful for tourists, and four coffee pods for three guests didn't feel like enough. The opaque glass bathroom door still didn't offer much privacy. The single bed by the window was cold all night and uncomfortable. Fletcher Hotel - Restaurant Nautisch Kwartier has its charms, but a few things could be better.

We had a lovely three-night stay, and the room was very nice, though the bed was quite soft. We also really enjoyed the food at the wine bar. The reception staff were especially friendly. The woman who checked us out early on the morning of April 4 was so caring and thoughtful, and made our day. Please pass along our thanks. We'll look at other Fletcher hotels on future trips.

Calling this place a hotel feels like a stretch. It was more like a low-grade hostel, and my wife, children, and I really suffered during our stay. I had booked and paid for two sea-view rooms, but instead we were put in another building, far from the hotel, with no ground-floor lobby and no view. The service was poor and unfriendly, and the building and rooms were cold, especially the shower. The place felt old and neglected, with peeling walls, filthy toilets, dust everywhere, and awful beds you sank into. The atmosphere was unpleasant too. The air-conditioning made the rooms noisy and couldn't be switched off. Breakfast was really disappointing: just one kind of roll, and they weren't fresh. Everything was empty, with no choice. It's sad to take a vacation with the kids and end up somewhere this uncomfortable.

The High Tea was presented beautifully, with plenty of delicious treats, and the restaurant was elegant and well kept. Service was satisfactory, and we enjoyed the experience overall. Still, the room felt short on atmosphere and was too warm. I had marked my diet as vegan when booking, but that seemed to have been overlooked. There were plenty of vegetarian options, though it seems some places still confuse vegan and vegetarian. I expected more from a hotel like Fletcher. Thanks to the team for their efforts. There are a few things to improve, but I'd be glad to return.
