This place suits me because I like things simple. The rooms are on the small side, but clean, and everything works as expected, including the shower, toilet, and TV. The beds are alright, the internet connection is strong, and the price was good for a last-minute booking. There aren’t many extras if you want lots of amenities or to be catered to. There’s a basic kitchen with a microwave and a coffee machine that works well, and that’s about it. Still, IJmuiden is small, and you can walk to all the restaurants in 5-10 minutes.

The ferry is very close, and there’s a nice area where you can sit and eat. We picked up food at the local hypermarket, warmed it in the microwave, and chilled some beer in the fridge. The area has lots of cafés, restaurants, and sand bars nearby. Everything was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly, and it was great value.

There are plenty of shops nearby, and the hotel sits on the edge of IJmuiden close to the amenities. The owners were lovely and really helpful. My room was much better than I expected from a two-star hotel, and guests could use the coffee machine for free. I’d stay here again.

The staff made us feel like we were staying with friends. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was full, and the window had a lovely view. There’s a supermarket, shops and pizzerias nearby. The ferry port is about a 20-minute walk away, and they let us leave our luggage there the following day.

After we missed our ferry, the innkeeper kindly took us in without any notice, even though we had our cat with us. Our next ferry wasn’t available yet, so he also let us stay a little past checkout, which was at 9h.
