Hotel Noordzee

We had a great seat in the sun to watch the flower parade, with coffee and bread with dips. The restaurant is right by the sea and the lovely boulevard, so it was a perfect spot for the parade. It was busy, and only a couple of people were serving, but that wasn't much of an issue since the prices weren't very high.

The town itself is lovely, with pretty shops right outside, and the location directly by the sea is perfect. The rooms were clean, but tiny, and the windows were incredibly dirty. The hotel feels very outdated, and the sound carries everywhere: loud slamming doors, footsteps, coughs, and even neighbors' conversations. Hallway lights stay on all night and shine through the door. I think the various lockdowns should have been used for a thorough renovation. Service was so-so, with some very nice staff and others who were unfriendly. The restaurant staff were quite loud at the bar, talking and laughing a lot. You can argue about whether the price matches what you get, but a hotel should invest in the building instead of relying on its location. I wouldn't come back and can't recommend it.

I spent four nights here in the off season as a base for long walks. The beach is right across the road, so the location is perfect. My room was fine, breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. The rooms don't have much soundproofing, which is hard to fix, and that's what kept me from giving it five stars.

The staff were polite during my one-night stay ten days ago, but I still had a bad experience. There are two outdoor parking spaces for guests, yet the receptionist said they were reserved for others and sent me to the garage, which cost 20 euros. Those spaces sat empty the entire next day. In the morning, one receptionist said they had no iron and told me to find a shop to press my suit for 15 euros. I asked a waiter, who brought an iron and board to my room. The hotel was very dirty, the rooms were tiny, and although there was a terrace, debris on it meant I couldn't use it. I've stayed at hotels across Europe, and this was the worst. Politeness doesn't make up for incompetence and rip-offs.
