Boerderij Hazenveld

Castle de Haar is close by and well worth seeing. We regretted not bringing a picnic to enjoy in the grounds. The site also makes a good base for Utrecht and the countryside between Utrecht, Amsterdam, and The Hague. We only had a couple of nights here and wished we could stay longer. It’s a small, quiet campsite on a working farm, surrounded by beautiful countryside and plenty of wildlife, including hares, swallows, martins, and other birds. The facilities are really well built and cared for. The hosts are warm and helpful, with lots of local activity information. They can also leave fresh bread and milk for breakfast the next morning. That was the best milk I’d had in a long time.

The host is a real source of local knowledge, and there are lovely towns and cities nearby. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and the beds were great. It’s about 20 minutes from central Amsterdam, which suited us since we wanted to avoid the busy city scene and very expensive parking. We had a lovely stay, thank you! Naheed Khan and Family

The farm stay was such an interesting experience for our family, and my city-raised kids got to touch, feed, and play with the cows and calves. They learned a lot, and even said good morning and good night to them each day before we headed out shopping. It was a lovely, cosy stay with an educational tour. Piet and Marianne welcomed us with big smiles and were so warm. We stayed in Room number 3, which was spacious and clean, with nearly everything we needed. There was coffee, tea, a bottle of red wine, a kettle, and a hair dryer. The TV was great for the kids, with YouTube Premium, and there’s a roof window where you can look at the stars from bed.

We stayed here while visiting the “IBC 2024” trade fair in Amsterdam. Everything was clean and well maintained, and I didn’t find myself missing anything. The owners are genuinely nice and understand Dutch and English, as well as some German. I’d recommend booking here instead of ending up in an ugly, dirty hotel room in Amsterdam.
