Calm and clean, with hospitality, good breakfasts, and a gentle, quietly attentive service. The price was good too. A great place.

Breakfast was comprehensive and adjusted to what you need. This cozy, family-run guesthouse sits right on the canal, around 10 km from Leeuwarden, making it ideal for cycling. It's spacious, all on the ground floor, and parking is right outside the door. From the terrace there's a beautiful view over the water...⛵🚘👍

From the terrace you can watch boats and ships on the water, while two cats and some chickens wander around the lawn. The chickens provide eggs for breakfast, which is great. The hosts are friendliness personified and do all they can to make you feel at home. They have created two lovely rooms and a dining area and kitchen where you can cook for yourself if you want. The B&B is in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of lovely cycling and walking routes and old towns full of magnificent buildings. What a wonderful place to stay, highly recommended.

Seeing the canal and boats from bed was such a lovely part of the stay, and the chickens never woke us before 8:10 a.m. We’ve now visited for vacation 11 times and keep wanting to return. On this trip we stayed for a week in early December, then another week in March and early April. The beds were spacious and comfortable, with firm mattresses that we really liked, and we slept wonderfully. The rooms were stylish, spotless and very quiet, and the hostess was so friendly. Breakfast was outstanding, with something a little different each day and lots of effort put into it. We were the only guests, so we had use of the modern shared kitchen, with a microwave, stove and everything needed to cook. It was great to make dinner after a busy day and eat at the big, beautiful wooden table. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. We don’t watch TV, so the lack of German channels didn’t bother us. There are two guest rooms, while the hosts live at the back and guests share the kitchen. Leeuwarden is really beautiful. Groningen didn’t impress us quite as much, and Ameland and its beach are well worth visiting if the weather’s nice. We were sad when our five days were over. We’ve completely fallen for the country and THIS accommodation, and would happily keep coming back. Every one of the 700 km to get there was worth it!
