De Akelei

The apartment was nicely furnished, and the bathroom was beautiful and new. But an awful moldy, rotting smell came from under the floorboards, and that was why we left after one night instead of the two we’d booked. The two single beds and the bedroom had a nursing-home feel. Also, the bathroom extractor kept running after each use. That part makes sense, but its motor was incredibly loud.

We were welcomed with tasty cake and fresh flowers on the table, and everything was very clean and tidy. The hosts were polite and respected our privacy. There was also lots of tourist information and a great selection of books for anyone who likes to read. The place is cozy and tastefully decorated, with a fully equipped modern kitchen, a private entrance and a covered terrace in a beautiful garden. It’s in a very quiet area. We’d happily come back.

Walking and cycling routes nearby make De Akelei a nice base for a relaxed stay in Lochem and the Achterhoek. It’s a charming, quiet place, not far from the center, with a welcoming feel and comfortable, homey decor. 🌿☕
