Hotel de Werelt

We were disappointed by our stay and wouldn't book this hotel again. We'd expected a quiet night's sleep, but a private party with loud music and guests went on well past midnight. We hadn't realized that choosing a hotel with an event center could mean that. The receptionist also wasn't very kind.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and having the restaurant in the hotel was convenient. The food was OK, as was breakfast. The location is beautiful, and the hotel looks lovely at first, but my experience was pretty average because the rooms weren't clean. The bathrooms smelled bad and had mold, and a dead centipede was stuck to the floor, which made me think it hadn't been cleaned for a while. The shower gel looked old and unusable. The rooms were noisy too, so I could hear a neighbor's alarm and chairs being dragged around. This place has potential, but they really need to pay more attention to room cleanliness.

The location itself is pleasant and friendly, but the bathroom was very cold and had black mold in the shower. We booked the brasserie for nine and weren't told we'd be limited to an expensive menu with few choices. Nobody told us the menu price, and the food was very basic, nowhere near worth what we paid, not even half. We still haven't had a response to our complaints.

The food was poor and offered little variety, and breakfast had very few options. At lunchtime, the vending machines couldn't be accessed, leaving only coffee with powdered milk. The rooms were noisy, and hallway light came through gaps around the doors. Staff entered and cleaned rooms even when the "Do Not Disturb" sign was up. Check-in was also a mess: two rooms were assigned incorrectly, one because a key card went to the wrong person, and another because a second card was issued for a room that was already occupied. I can only advise against staying here.
