The place itself is nice, but the people weren’t fair or ethical. They overcharged us for everything and kept our deposit without giving an invoice or explanation.

We regret picking this place for our vacation so much. We’d booked two nights but left after just one because the chalet was missing very basic living conditions. We just wanted to go home, so we rushed out and left our dog’s bed behind. After we’d tried to forget the awful place, they emailed to say they were charging us 50€ for leaving it behind. The worst vacation we’ve ever had!!

There were five of us, friends from Slovakia, and I booked a three-week holiday. After five days, we had to leave because she said we were working there and couldn’t stay in the park. I don’t understand the situation. Very, very bad woman. We’ll never come back to the Netherlands.

Markelo itself is fabulous, and there are lots of places to walk and cycle nearby. Plenty of activities for kids are close by too. It’s a beautiful place, and my favourite place to be.
