The site is still being built, but the three-bedroom house we stayed in was perfect. It was clean and pretty new, with brand-new appliances. The sauna and jacuzzi were great too.
The cottage itself is beautiful and feels luxurious, and we come away with friends each year to chat and play board games. This time, though, the cold disrupted the weekend. It was only 16°C when we arrived. We followed the manual and turned up the thermostat with the plus button, but the place stayed cold, so we called the emergency number. The woman was kind and said she'd come after dinner. We checked the system with an electric heater in tow, even though it was supposedly checked already. She said the settings were right and it just needed to warm up, and promised to return after 9 the next morning to see if it had worked. The portable heater kept us warm at the game table, but the rest of the cottage was freezing. The heating suddenly started during the night, then one bedroom radiator kept switching on every half hour, making enough noise to keep us awake. By morning it was off again and the rooms were icy. No one came after 9, so we called at about 10:30. When she arrived, she again said the system was set correctly, offered another cottage, and said she'd call a technician. Moving wasn't workable for us because this cottage had no bedroom or bathroom downstairs. Luckily the technician came quickly and fixed it, and by evening every room was warm. Even with the problem fixed, the weekend had already been affected: we used an icy ground-floor toilet, showered in a cold room, lost sleep, and had our time together interrupted. The staff were friendly and tried to help, but the impact on our stay was completely disregarded.
It was a very nice place to stay, with everything we needed, and I'd recommend it. The pillows weren't comfortable, though, and it was very warm upstairs while the heating downstairs barely worked. A few thoughtful touches could make it feel more welcoming, like pictures, a bathroom cabinet, and a mirror in every room. Apart from that, everything was great.
Most of the houses are right by the water, with charming little bridges. Since the park only opened in mid-2025, the newly planted greenery hasn't had time to become attractive yet, though there are plenty of plants already in the ground. It's a pleasant walk to Medemblik or the IJsselmeer, and you can also get there by bike or car. There are nice day trips to the coast, Hoorn, Enkhuizen, and the IJsselmeer beaches. The Medemblik-Hoorn-Enkhuizen steam train and boat trip is well worth doing. Inside, the house is stylish, with comfortable beds, underfloor heating, and two bathrooms. For the first few days there are supplies like shampoo, coffee pods, tea, sugar, powdered milk, dish soap, a cloth, and a dish brush. A small pack of local products was waiting when we arrived.
The cottages sit beautifully by the water and are luxuriously furnished, with everything we needed. We had some doubts at first after reading the other reviews, but there was nothing to worry about. The location is great, with lots of lovely places nearby. We definitely recommend it.
