Watertoren Middelburg

They’ve done a great job renovating the old water tower. Everything in Middelburg is within walking distance, and it makes a great base for a short stay.

Amazing architecture, and a great location.

The tower was lovely and warm even with the winter temperatures, and our group felt very comfortable. New Year’s Eve was an experience. The view is top-notch, and the place is nicely furnished with everything provided. It’s centrally located and there’s parking. Just be aware that you need to be able to climb stairs, so it’s not suitable for people with knee problems.

The roof terrace has a lovely view over the area, and the city center is ideally close, about a fifteen-minute walk to lively central Middelburg. The concept is unique, though staying on the different floors means being fit enough for the beautifully lacquered steel staircase. There’s an outdoor lift from the ground floor to the fourth, and you can enter there and use the stairs for the other floors. The interior is neat but showing wear. In my opinion, some refreshing and repairs to the smaller worn areas are needed. The location and view feel a bit pricey. There’s parking on the property beneath tall trees, and a public charging point for two cars at the street corner. It was windy and raining heavily during our stay. After two days, our car was covered in twigs, leaves and some kind of pollen, and even worse, lots of bird droppings. A simple carport for guest cars would be nice so people don’t have to clean their cars before leaving.
