Everything we wanted was within reach, including the city center and the beach, each just a couple of minutes away by bike. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the customer service was really nice. Breakfast is extra, but it was outstanding and a must-have for us.

BEWARE: This property allows guests to bring multiple dogs, including four aggressive Rottweilers. My family and I planned to stay at De Berkenhof for three nights. Check-in went smoothly, and the woman at the desk was friendly. We were disappointed by how thin the walls were. We were in the "4 persoons appartement aan de Speelweide," the four-person apartment by the play area, and could hear the neighbors on both sides, with no privacy. The beds also weren’t made. We were given a stack of sheets and had to make all four beds ourselves at the start of our vacation. The first day was fine. On the second, new guests arrived in the apartment beside ours with four very large Rottweilers. They’d put a mesh barrier about two feet high around their patio, which already made us uneasy. That evening, as we returned from a sunset bike ride, the dogs barked, growled, and charged through the mesh toward our eight-year-old daughter. Thankfully, their owners managed to grab them in time. The owners then called us names and acted aggressively toward us. We asked the hotel owners to move us to another apartment, but they did nothing to help. The owner even suggested we might have startled the dogs with our bicycles. We didn’t feel safe, so we called the police. Two officers escorted us off the property, and we were able to stay across the street at the WestCord Hotel Noordsee. They treated us very well, gave us a great rate, and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. We’ll stay at the WestCord from now on. Allowing dogs is one thing, but allowing four aggressive Rottweilers is absolutely unacceptable. The property owner was unfriendly, unhelpful, and aloof. His daughter was kinder and said it was ridiculous that these dogs were allowed to stay, adding, "I am sorry, we didn't realize they had 4 Rottweilers, we expected just one small dog." But she didn’t offer a solution either. Avoid this place at all costs!

When we asked to stay an extra day, they gave us a great deal.

Clean, peaceful, and very good value for the price.
