Hotel Hofker

We had such a lovely time here ☺️ The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was fresh and tasty. A beautiful hotel.

The sauna was a real highlight for me.

That little balcony looking out over the garden or park was such a lovely spot to unwind, and we slept really well on the mattresses. Our room was spotless and nicely furnished, with the renovation details giving the entrance a warm, cozy feel. Hotel Hofker sits in a peaceful part of Nes, right in the center, so we could walk everywhere. The secure bike storage was especially useful on Ameland. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including fresh bread and rolls, cheeses, cold cuts, jam, fruit, quark, yogurt, little cakes, orange juice, mint water, and several kinds of coffee. Everything looked fresh and nicely arranged. I did miss having scrambled or fried eggs, but that's a small personal preference, not a major complaint. The hosts were so welcoming and attentive. The older man, who I assume was the manager, and his wife greeted us each day and asked how we were doing. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We'd happily stay again, and can recommend this quiet, lovingly run hotel in Nes.

The cottage was tidy enough and the owners greeted us kindly. We weren't staying in the hotel itself, just in a cottage on the grounds. The hotel lent us umbrellas on a rainy day, and after checkout they let us leave our things in the lobby. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, and the oven gave off a strong burnt smell when we baked rolls because it wasn't clean. We chose to clean the cottage ourselves before leaving. When we came back to collect our things and asked about the deposit, the owner's manner changed. He said we hadn't cleaned properly and spoke to us in a very condescending way. He asked us to follow him through the cottage, taking off his shoes as he went in, then pointed out a crumb and a smudge. We hadn't mopped, but we had vacuumed thoroughly and left the floor as we'd found it. He angrily pointed out that we were walking inside with our shoes on, after asking us to follow him. It felt very strange. We offered to remove the smudge, but he brushed that aside. The rest was cleaned well, and I had even given the oven a thorough extra clean for the next guests. A high cleanliness standard is fine, but requiring final cleaning would avoid this sort of unpleasant dispute.
