We just had the best family holiday here. The bungalow suited us really well, though the other houses available look great too. The pool was brilliant, and being by the beach was perfect. For the beach, go left or right for what we thought were nicer stretches. We had a great dinner at DOK14, near the radar/lighthouse thing.
The apartment was in a terrible state when we arrived: hair on the bed and other surfaces, dust in the corners, sand on the floor, and things left behind by previous guests. It looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned properly, and there were ants inside too. We took photos and are posting this straight away because we didn't want to wait until the end of the holiday to report problems like these. For what we paid, this was unacceptable, and we wouldn't recommend staying here. We called the staff right after arriving and were told someone would come, but nobody showed up after an hour. At the service desk, nobody seemed to know about our complaint; we were again told someone would come, then waited another two hours with no one arriving. We've had to clean the place ourselves. That response was extremely disappointing. Looking at other reviews, this seems to happen repeatedly, so management needs to improve both housekeeping and customer service.
The accommodation was shockingly cheap for the premium price. Our bungalow's induction hob stopped working after one use, the outdoor parasol was broken when it arrived, and the furniture's leatherette was peeling. The toilet had no ventilation and smelled awful throughout our stay. For a family of four, we got only four small towels, with no hand towels or bath mats. Basic shopping also meant driving away from the park, unless you wanted to pay 8 euro per bottle for shampoo or conditioner at the resort shop. The park is enormous, and from our bungalow it was a long, tedious walk to reception, the minimarket, indoor pool, and central area. Beyond the bungalows were homes that looked like trailer park units. There was little community life: people walked on the shared paths during the day, then disappeared into identical homes for the evening. It felt like a very deep suburb with no city to visit and little to do beyond cycling or buying overpriced fries. The space is packed tightly, too. We couldn't relax in our garden because the neighboring family's kids had screaming contests and meltdowns at 7 every morning, and we could hear everything. This didn't feel like an interesting beach holiday. If you're looking for local history, good food, lively evenings, or things like outdoor music or cinema, the park came across to me as a clinical corporate project built to fit in as many people as possible. It seems to appeal mostly to traditional Northern European families, many of them German from what I saw, who are happy with a regimented routine. The flat farmland around the resort was monotonous, and nearby towns seemed mostly lifeless. We visited Sluis on a Saturday evening during a major bank holiday weekend, and by 8 PM it was half dead, with only a couple of restaurants open. Zeeland itself can be lovely: years ago we stayed near Middelburg and visited Domburg, both with history and more varied scenery. Nieuwvliet-Bad felt like a cynical corporate machine by comparison. I won't set foot here again.
We came back for a second visit and loved it again. The beach is lovely for a stroll and looking for shark teeth, with a few beach bars along the way. The kids had a great time at the pool and indoor playground. The park is very clean, and the houses have most of what you need for a good holiday. I'd definitely recommend it for a family trip.
The wide beach is reached directly from the park by a wooden boardwalk, and its shallow water works well for families with young children. The location also makes it easy to explore nearby places: Sluis has a historic belfry, and coastal cycling routes run toward Cadzand and Knokke-Heist in Belgium. Bikes are available to rent at the park. For nature walks, Verdronken Zwarte Polder has paths and wooden walkways through dunes and beach landscape, with a chance to see unusual birds. The reserve was formed after a dike breach in 1802 and has a range of bird and plant life. There's plenty to do at the resort itself, including a mini golf course and indoor play area for rainy weather. The indoor subtropical pool covers more than 400 m², with a rapids feature, three slides, a toddler pool with a little slide, and a spray park. Parents can sit on the loungers nearby. Foodies is centrally located and serves local and international dishes made with fresh ingredients. You can have dinner there, or just stop for a drink and sharing platter by the fireplace. The modern room has a relaxed feel, and there's also a snack bar for something quick. The park sits on the Zeeland coast near the Belgian border and has a mix of places to stay, from thatched cottages and beach lodges with verandas to larger villas with three bedrooms and an infrared sauna. With its beach access, pool, restaurant, and nearby reserve, it's a good fit for families, couples, or anyone wanting a relaxing break with some nature nearby.
