Hotel De Hoeve van Nunspeet

I extended my reservation after staying at the hotel, but things went badly. Reception told me I had to move all my belongings to another room, and that room hadn’t even been cleaned. When I asked for a complaint form or another way to record the problem formally, the manager brushed it off as “irrelevant” and said she was “taking care of it.” The staff came across as rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. With such poor basic service and respect, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The stay was pleasant until the final night, when I woke to dead cockroaches along the hallway. It looked like there was an infestation, and they hadn’t been cleaned up before guests came down for breakfast. Eating after seeing that was hard. The small room had no air conditioning, and there were no window screens to keep mosquitoes out. In hot weather, I think the stay could become a bitter experience. 😬😔

The room was nice and the bed was comfortable, but it was very cold and there was no water or coffee. I couldn’t work at the desk because the outlets were already taken up by the TV, phone, and lamp, leaving nowhere to plug in my laptop.

Dinner was the highlight: beautiful food, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service. The restaurant gets five stars from me. The breakfast bar was great, but I’d give it three because everything is left out in the open where everyone breathes and sneezes over it. The location deserves five stars too. Reception gets three. It’s partly about how things are said, and also what staff don’t tell you. They don’t volunteer much, and I found most information in the app. You can check in at 2 pm, but apparently you can’t get into your room until 3, with no exceptions as far as I understood. Check-out is at 11. Our room gets three stars. It was dark and poky, on the first floor, and felt more like an attic. There was a desk and two comfortable chairs under small windows, but the dark furniture and mood lighting made it hard to see. I was glad I had a camping light because things were hard to find on the dark carpet if dropped. The shower was cramped and gloomy but good, with room for a toothbrush and no toiletries. The lighting was too dark to shave by. You can hire a coffee pod machine and kettle for Euro 7.50, but they don’t mention that. You have to ask for a bathmat, and they don’t have face cloths, or “washandjes”. One night was enough.
