Villa Vakantiepark De Reebok

We arrived around midnight after struggling to find our way through the woods, completely exhausted. Mosquitoes swarmed us as soon as we got out of the car. I retrieved the keys from the postbox by reception, as instructed when booking, and eventually managed to open the rusty door of the so-called three-bedroom chalet 9. Inside, moths seemed to be everywhere, and the floor between the kitchen and living room was dirty and sticky, with puddles of something that looked like sugar syrup. The microwave and fridge were unplugged or not working, and the dusty old air conditioner failed when we tried to turn it on. There were spider webs in every corner, and moths behind the stained curtains. The smelly couch was torn open, with bugs behind the cushions. The bedrooms were filthy, dusty and very hot. The bathroom floor was even worse, soaked in the same oily liquid, and neither the shower nor sink had warm water. The toilet was full of urine, and a horrible spider nest, marked in blue in my attached pictures, made us want to avoid the bathroom entirely. I’m honestly glad we got out of there alive. Please heed this warning and don’t book this place, for your own sake. Thank you.

The pitches are big and flat, and the showers are brilliant: each has its own heater in a fully enclosed cubicle. The woman in the office was very friendly. There’s a great bar and restaurant next to the campsite, and the bar owner is lovely too. A great campsite in a beautiful part of the countryside.

The Van Gogh tent was amazing, definitely the coolest tent I’ve stayed in. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and its spot on the site was great. There are five single beds, one of them a bunk, with duvets provided. They’re large singles, so bring the right size linen. The woods around the site are lovely for walks, though there are lots of mosquitoes, and Oisterwijk is a very nice town. There’s a pool and swimming lake about a mile away, an easy walk, and tourists staying at this site can use it for free. A lovely little campsite in a great location.

The site is cozy and well maintained, and Campina forest behind the camp is great for a walk. The camps and lodges are well equipped, but ours wasn’t properly cleaned: there were bread crumbs and dust on the bedroom floor, a dead mosquito on the wall, and a dead insect in the living room. The Wi-Fi didn’t work most of the time. They could consider keeping reception open later or making the fridge and snacks available late. A swimming pool would have been really useful, even a small one. Despite these issues, which aren’t major, it’s worth visiting if you want a change of scene and some quiet time.
