The location is great, but the place feels dated. The pool and gym need serious modernisation: plaster is falling off the pool ceiling, and the gym isn’t well equipped. Our room had terrible acoustics. We could hear neighbours talking, walking around and using the kitchen, and every noise from the communal hallways came straight through the doors.

The apartments are super spacious and very clean, with a kitchen stocked well enough for basic meals. Pool reservations are well organised, with a 30-minute booking per family or room each day. Staff are friendly, and the location is great, close to the ferry and main street. For a future visit, I’d request an upper-floor room. From the ground floor, you can hear running children, slamming doors and conversations as people pass by or sit at reception. One bedroom’s “window” looks out onto the hallway, so light sleepers beware. Other than that, it was a great stay.

The apartment we ended up in was spacious and comfortable, with two bedrooms, a perfect living room and a nice bath in the bathroom. We had to pay a small fee to move there from the ground-floor apartment we were first given. That one only had a door that could be opened for ventilation, which made it prone to uninvited guests. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Honestly, I’d get your own breakfast or eat somewhere on the island. A good place for a family getaway to Vlieland.
