The restaurant on our last evening was a bright spot: the food and service were excellent, though the kitchen was overwhelmed and our three-course dinner took two and a half hours. That came after five disappointing nights, with no manager ever contacting me about the problems I had reported. I work in hospitality, so I know things can go wrong and try to understand the operational pressures. What bothered me most was the lack of follow-up and anyone taking responsibility. After the first night, I emailed a detailed list of concerns and said we still had four nights to go. Nobody replied. I also gave stained towels to reception and pointed out a web with hair above the bathroom door, but neither issue was dealt with. The breakfast supervisor was the only person who discussed my written complaint with me, and came across as defensive rather than interested in finding a solution. The most upsetting example happened on Friday. Our three-year-old son was ill and vomited partly on the outside of the toilet. We told reception at 4:30 pm and asked for help. They said housekeeping had gone home and they would see what they could do. When we got back at 1 am, it was still there, so I cleaned it myself. Housekeeping came the next morning, but stains were still visible. Breakfast felt transactional, with staff repeatedly asking for our room number instead of our name. The buffet didn't offer much. The bread and condiments were good, but the hot food was consistently poor: the scrambled eggs and bacon were extremely dry. We were told they came ready-made from headquarters and couldn't be changed, although the bacon was suddenly good and completely different on Saturday. Plates that looked clean were often dirty. A toaster appeared briefly after I asked about one, then vanished again. The room had many problems too. It was at the end of the corridor, and getting to it meant squeezing around linen storage and housekeeping trolleys. Three of us were given one key. The lighting was very dim, the door damaged, the mattresses felt cheap, and the bedding wasn't up to the price. The bedside reading lights didn't work properly and seemed unsafe. The TV was crooked and smaller than a laptop screen. There was no fridge or minibar. In the bathroom we found stained towels, chewing gum on the shower wall, and that web with hair above the door. A clear sign said Thuisbezorgd wasn't allowed, but the room-service QR code beside it didn't work. We were a family of three on a two-week European road trip with a lot of luggage, but nobody offered to help even when we were struggling. Check-in was impersonal too: they asked for payment first, with no ID check, guest-detail confirmation, or proper welcome. I rarely write negative reviews, but for five nights at a significant room rate, this level of indifference was disappointing. Problems can happen anywhere; leaving them unaddressed is what made this stay so concerning.

We had actually enjoyed our stay, but after a tour we came back to find my charging cable and AirPods on the floor, with the charging socket ripped out. Housekeeping had been in the room. Reception told me to follow up when the supervisor was available, so I contacted them after the holiday. There were countless emails back and forth, including someone suggesting I claim it on my travel insurance. I eventually gave up and paid for replacement AirPods myself. For a hotel in this price range, I expected more.

The beach is close by, the rooms are clean, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly. Great spot, would definitely recommend.

We were in the area near Ouddorp for work, and my husband and I ended up having an unforgettable stay here. The staff were so friendly and attentive, always ready to help. We felt at home. The grounds are picturesque, parking is ample, the Wi-Fi is good, and bike rental is cheap. It’s only a few minutes’ walk to the sea, and we got out for lots of walks on the sunny days. We especially enjoyed the restaurant. Everything we tried was delicious, from the fresh seafood to the desserts, and breakfast was tasty with plenty of variety each morning. Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Duinzicht is a lovely choice if you’re after peace, comfort, and great service. We were very pleased and will definitely come back.

Two years in a row, the same menu, the same uncomfortable mattress, and the same slow service that seemed uninterested in the fact we were spending our evening there and wanted the basics. The portions are tiny and the menu is limited. The spot is nice, but dinner at the beach would take less time and give you more choice.
