RCN Vakantiepark Toppershoedje

We rented a Strandejutte for five nights, and it was plenty of room for two adults and our children, aged 12 and 13. The place was clean and modern inside, and everything around the park was gorgeous. Staff were pleasant, helpful and service minded, and the whole area was clean and tidy. We really liked the restaurant, and the snack bar is worth recommending too. Incredibly nice place, strongly recommended.

UPDATED We’re challenging the bill at the moment. The total sent through Airbnb was twice what we expected, and the experience was not enjoyable, especially because of how the staff handled things. We were asked if we wanted breakfast for 10.50 and told about the tourist tax of 1.50. They also asked whether we wanted sheets and towels, but never mentioned a price for them. Nobody at the place would speak to us on the phone, saying they were busy, and reception hadn’t mentioned the charge before we left. We then spoke to someone in the help center who couldn’t help with anything and just told us to pay ASAP to avoid charges, without listening to what we had to say. EU law requires prices to be shown before someone buys something. I wouldn’t trust the people working there to deal with any problems that might come up if you rent a house.

We stayed for 5 days and really liked our tiny house, especially the porch and the fridge, gas cooker and dishwasher. There was a bit of dust and dirt in some corners, and the bedsheets were stained, so we had to send them back. They sorted that out straight away. I’d recommend it to friends or couples who don’t mind sharing a small space.

There weren’t any spaces for hikers or cyclists when I arrived today, which was disappointing. Since the campsite is on the North Sea bicycle route, I’d have expected a tent spot for cyclists passing through. I’ve stayed here a few times in the past, a few years ago, and always liked the place, so this gets fewer stars. Maybe they’ll create a space for passing cyclists again in the future, and I’ll update my review if they do.
